PROPOSAL
TO PLACE A HEALTH SMART CARD READER IN A
Pharmacy
The Health Smart Card is a credit card
sized card with a computer chip imbedded into it. The Smart Card
will carry programmed medical data, drug data and insurance billing
information of the cardholder. The card is easily updated whenever
any changes occur.
By inserting the card into a
card reader which connects to a computer via a serial port, the
data is displayed on the computer screen in any participating
ambulance, emergency department, Doctor's office, Pharmacy, outpatient
surgical facility, nursing home, etc. The computer screen display
is easily printed to paper. Examples of a printout, application
form, card appearance and instruction sheet are included.
The benefits to your Pharmacy
are:
- Your Pharmacists will have detailed
medical, drug, allergy, and insurance information on the patient
immediately thereby expediting the processing of prescriptions.
This will increase efficiency and shorten the time spent with
patients so patients can be served and prescriptions can be dispensed
quicker.
- If the patient is unable to
answer the Pharmacist's questions for whatever reason then, with
the Smart Card, detailed information is still available. This
may be life saving such as in instances of drug interactions
or allergies.
- Insurance billing information
is provided for up to two carriers with ID numbers and telephone
numbers.
- You can advertise your business
by stating: "If you bring your prescriptions to be filled
at our Pharmacy, we can read your Health Smart Card here."
I am requesting that you place
a Health Smart Card Reader in your Pharmacy to be able to read
the cards of any of your clients who may bring their prescriptions
to you and are participants of this program. If you have a reader
in your Pharmacy, your business name will be printed on an instruction
sheet which is provided to ALL card holders. This will be free
advertising for your Pharmacy.
